From 1st April until 31st May, MKK will showcase our first Kyudo exhibition at the Consulate General of Japan in Melbourne (Level 25, 570 Bourke Street). This is an achievement brought together by members of the club, working in collaboration with some high caliber artists. Credit to Japan based Kyudo photographer Koji Okuno for the photographs displayed in the exhibit, and to Melbourne based Japanese calligrapher Junko Azukawa.

Start dates for introduction course at Melbourne Kyudo Kai in 2019 are out! Anyone wishing to participate will be required to commit to the four consecutive weeks.

MKK members Jing Yu and Viet Hoang made the cover of the All Nippon Kyudo Federation’s monthly magazine! As featured, Australian kyudo members around the country had a chance to receive instruction from five kyudo sensei visiting from the ANKF and the Nihon Budokan during the Kyudo seminar held in NSW.

Each year, the Nippon Budokan Foundation dispatches a “Budo Delegation” (of Japanese martial ways) to a different country to perform demonstrations, hold workshops, and facilitate greater international understanding of the traditional Japanese martial arts. This government-sponsored event was sanctioned by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sports Agency of MEXT, and in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the signing of the “Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation” (1976) between Australia and Japan, the 2016 International Budo Delegation consisted of 78 different martial arts masters.
